Celebrating 40 Years of Keeping Families Close

SYRACUSE, N.Y. Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central New York (RMHC® of CNY) is celebrating its 40th anniversary and inviting community members to attend its Many Hearts One Home Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. at the SRC Arena and Events Center. The annual event helps raise much-needed funds to support the many guest families with seriously ill children who travel to Syracuse for medical care and rely on the CNY Ronald McDonald House as a comfortable and affordable place to stay together.

Since opening its doors on Thanksgiving Day in 1982, the CNY Ronald McDonald House has served as a temporary home for thousands of families who travel to Syracuse from across New York State and northern Pennsylvania, and, in some cases, foreign countries. The House provides guest families with the convenience of a comfortable room and warm bed, home-cooked meals and snacks and support and compassion – all at no charge to the families – all while keeping them close to Syracuse-area hospitals and medical centers.

Over the past four decades, RMHC of CNY has grown significantly, most notably when the organization expanded into its new House in 2012. The larger, fully accessible home has allowed the nonprofit to meet the diverse needs of guest families and offer expanded services to accommodate even more families in need.

“The CNY Ronald McDonald House was built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their sick child,” said Beth Trunfio, executive director, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York. “For 40 years, we’ve been fortunate to be able to help keep families together. Yet, after all this time, we continue to rely on the generosity of the community to support the programs and services we provide.”

Tickets for the Many Hearts One Home Celebration can be purchased online at rmhcny.org or by calling (315) 476-1027. Community members are invited to join the organization and this year’s honorary event chairs, Guy and Melissa Hart, to enjoy live and silent auctions, cocktails and food stations. Cocktail attire is suggested.
