The Baldwin Family

The Baldwin Family of Gouveneur, New York – Mom, Shelagh, and Dad, Jeff; 12-Day old Gwenn; Ariel, 33 months; and Brody, 17 months, were excited as baby Shane (twin to Gwenn) was being released from hospital and checking out of the Ronald McDonald House on June 4, 2009, after a 11 day stay. Dad was in Iraq while his wife was giving birth to the twins and was able to view the long birth via “modern technology” (although we heard Dad fell asleep a few times), but we know for sure Mom didn’t. Shane needed to have heart surgery and Jeff was able to get “Compassion Leave” from the service to be with his family while baby was in the hospital. They were leaving to go home to spend about three days together before Dad returned back to Iraq.

“Dear Staff, Thank you for creating such a great place for families like ours who need a place to stay. The house has such a pleasant atmosphere, making our stay in Syracuse a positive experience. Financially the house helped us out too. I don’t know how we would have afforded a hotel. You all were helpful and caring, and are very much appreciated!”

— Shelagh, Jeff, Ariel, Brody, Gwenn and Shane
