The Bocinski Family

Sarah and Jesse Bocinski were visiting friends in the Adirondacks in January 2014 when Sarah’s water broke prematurely. She was only 25 weeks pregnant at the time. Fortunately, upon arriving in Syracuse, her labor was able to be delayed. Sarah gave birth to her son, Henry, at 28 weeks at Crouse Hospital. Henry weighed 2 pounds, 7 ounces and was immediately placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The Bocinskis stayed at the CNY Ronald McDonald House while Henry grew in the NICU before he could be discharged.

“It was difficult to be so far from home in such a stressful situation, but having the CNY Ronald McDonald House as a resource was amazing,” said Sarah. “We would have spent thousands of dollars to stay close to our son.”

Jesse added that being so close to the hospital was a relief for the family. “I’m not sure what we would have done without the CNY Ronald McDonald House. The support that the staff and volunteers gave us was incredible.”
