The Colbert Family
The Colbert triplets, Arabella, Albert and Gabriel, were born on May 7, 2011. The family, from Tupper Lake, New York, returned to the CNY Ronald McDonald House for routine doctor’s appointments in Syracuse for four years following the triplets discharge from the hospital.
Before the children were born, their mother, Lisa, was a guest at the CNY Ronald McDonald House for two days. She was pregnant with quadruplets and was considered a high-risk pregnancy. Her doctors did not want to risk Lisa going into labor more than three hours away from the hospital, so she came to the House prior to the birth to ensure she would be able to get to the hospital in time. Lisa delivered her babies at Crouse Hospital, and two days later, Grace, one of the quadruplets, passed away.
Once released from the hospital, Lisa and her husband, Sam, were guests at the CNY Ronald McDonald House while their babies were cared for in the NICU. The Colberts stayed at the House for about 11 weeks. During their stay, Lisa’s two oldest boys, Tyler, 14, and Ryleigh, 12, visited the House along with Lisa’s mother and sister. Lisa was so thankful for the CNY Ronald McDonald House during this difficult time in her family’s life. “I have no idea what we would have done being so far from home,” said Lisa, when asked about her experiences at the House.
