The Smith Family
Kelly Smith, from Massena, New York, was 29 weeks pregnant with twin daughters Madalyn and Jacalyn when her water broke unexpectedly. She received an emergency transport to Crouse Hospital in Syracuse and gave birth prematurely Nov. 10, 2015. Madalyn weighed 2 pounds, 4 ounces and Jacalyn weighed 2 pounds, 14 ounces and were immediately placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
While Madalyn and Jacalyn grew in the NICU, Kelly and her husband, Jack, were referred to the CNY Ronald McDonald House and found a “home away from home.” After more than two months at our House, Kelly and Jack were able to return home with their daughters after the girls were discharged from the NICU.
“The CNY Ronald McDonald House made us feel comfortable, and the staff was always there for us during our stay,” said Kelly. “Without the House we would have missed out on the first two months of our daughters’ lives. We can’t say thank you enough.”
