17 Nov RMHC of CNY Expands Hospitality Cart Program at Crouse Hospital
New cart to impact children of patients receiving treatment in the emergency room
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central New York (RMHC® of CNY) has expanded its Hospitality Cart program at Crouse Hospital by adding a second Hospitality Cart to impact even more families in need. The new Hospitality Cart will serve families receiving treatment in the Pomeroy Emergency Services Department.
Aimed at enhancing the comfort of families by providing them with complimentary care items, RMHC of CNY Hospitality Carts are stocked with assorted grab-and-go snacks and refreshments, children’s activities, and personal care items and toiletries – all free of charge to families – to help provide comfort and care to children, parents and caregivers at the hospital bedside. The new cart will be stationed in the emergency room, where nurses and staff members can access it as needed to distribute items to children whose parents or family members are receiving treatment.
RMHC of CNY launched its Hospitality Cart program in February 2025, effectively expanding its services and extending its reach beyond the CNY Ronald McDonald House. The ER cart is the second Hospitality Cart placed at Crouse Hospital as part of the program. RMHC of CNY’s first cart travels through the Walter R.G. Baker Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Kienzle Family Maternity Center and the Pediatric Recovery Care Center and visits hospital-affiliated clinics, including Pediatric Cardiology Associates and Pediatric Urology.
“We’re excited to grow our Hospitality Cart program within Crouse Hospital and continue to deliver compassion, comfort and care to families,” said Beth Trunfio, president and CEO, RMHC of CNY. “Since we first introduced the program, we have served more than 1,800 children, parents and caregivers through it. This new cart will enable us to serve even more families while they are at the hospital and enhance their comfort while they are in the ER.”
“We are grateful to RMHC of CNY for their second Hospitality Cart donation, which will help provide comfort to families in our Emergency Services Department. At Crouse, we say, ‘Every moment matters,’ and this generous gift will further enhance the care and comfort our patients and their families receive,” said Seth Kronenberg, president and CEO, Crouse Health.
