Three Times The Love

Amelinda Johnson and Nichole Kingston, of Auburn, New York, were expecting triplets, when at 29 weeks pregnant, Nichole was diagnosed with preeclampsia. She was immediately admitted to Crouse Hospital where she spent the next several weeks on bed rest until the triplets were born.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, visitation at the hospital was limited, making it incredibly difficult for Amelinda to see Nichole. Having to stay apart, Amelinda and Nichole were nervous and scared. On top of that, they also worried about how they would care for their two other children at home. Fortunately, we were able to help ease their financial burden and reduce their stress by providing a temporary home for the family at the CNY Ronald McDonald House.

Amelinda had previously heard about the CNY Ronald McDonald House and thought that it was a great resource for families with sick children — never thinking she would be a guest there herself.

“I am grateful to have been able to stay at the House and remain so close to Nichole and our newborn triplets,” said Amelinda. “It helped lift a weight off our shoulders. Not only is the location convenient, but the House helped eliminate added stress by reducing travel expenses such as daily hotel and dinner costs.”

After 31 nights, the triplets were able to leave the NICU, and the new family of seven returned home together.

“We couldn’t be more thankful for the CNY Ronald McDonald House and every single person who makes donations to the House — no matter how big or little.”
